| When referring to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, there is one number that stands out from the rest: 48 That number refers to the number of peaks in the White Mountains with an elevation of at least 4,000 feet and at least 200 feet of prominence. Some come to the Whites, hike the 48, and move on to other lists. That's great, but for some of us we want more. These peaks are beautiful and are well worthy of a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th hike. Some even feel the peaks are worth visiting 12 times, one for each calendar month of the year. So with this in mind, there is another number associated with the Whites that has ever growing significance and popularity: 576 That's equal to hiking each of the 48 peaks in each month of the calendar year.
